Flexible seating allows students to make choices that are best for their learning. A carpet area would allow for more collaboration among the students since it would offer a place to easily pair up or work in small groups. Collaboration with classmates would help them develop higher-level thinking skills, as well as social interaction skills. Flexible seating would promote more on-task behavior. Many of my students cannot stay focused during an activity and often walk around the room. Children need to move, and offering them wobble stools would allow them to do so. Giving students the choice of a comfortable seat would not only make them feel empowered but would also keep them more engaged in their learning. I would like a Teepee to use as a fun reading area where students can develop a love for reading.
