Something as simple as a meeting rug may seem silly to outside eyes. But to elementary students, this is where learning begins. Do you every feel like your work or motivation has stalled out because of the space around you? It may be too crowded and cramped, too noisy and distracting, or just plain unorganized. It's the same for our children. With a meeting rug we can welcome every student individually, reduce distractions, provide space for thinking and doing, and so much more! It would do away with the touching and breaking of one another's bubble. This rug would provide students with their own space and help me to manage my students so that we could foster a great learning and nurturing environment. As a first year teacher, I've depleted so much of my small teacher budget already (and have much more supplies to get). My own out-of-pocket money is also not enough to get my classroom started. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student comfort and focus, but you will ultimately help to increase the academic achievement of every student who walks into my classroom.
