The use of Ukuleles in our Media Center Maker Space will be used to reward students for meeting their reading goals. Students have gotten excited about meeting goals with the STEM activities in our maker space, however we want to add the "A" for the Arts. STEAM activities are important to reach ALL students. With the ukuleles, we can reach our middle school students who may not otherwise be motivated to read. Having ukuleles and music as a reward for meeting those reading goals benefits students on ALL levels. Middle school students are love working with their hands and love music. What better way to motivate them to READ?!?
