No matter the age, especially now more than ever since COVID-19, people are constantly being overwhelmed. The same is even more true for students with special needs. There are many factors that contribute to over-stimulation and behavioral outbursts. The purpose of this project is to provide a safe, well-equipped room for students to be able to be able to compose themselves, cope, and continue with their day. The DREAM room will be a refuge to students that need to readjust. The students will be able to have flexible seating, calming aromatherapy, soft music, and sensory lighting as a change of atmosphere. D.R.E.A.M. is an acronym for De-escalating their anger and aggression, relaxing to calm state, elevating above the current situation to make it better, adapting to the situation, and meditating on what they can do to be better. Upon entering they will refocus their energy and upon exiting they will go back out to chase their wildest dreams.
