In second grade, students are expected to use quite a bit of technology as part of their learning and mastery of second grade. We begin to practice and perform various research projects and learn to collaborate with our peers. These skills are crucial to long term success for all students and adults in the real world. With the access to tablets in the classroom, I know that my students can shine by creating videos and documentaries based on their research. Many of the students in my classroom do not have access to much technology at home, if any. Through accessing various technology in the classroom, I know that I am helping them to succeed in such a technology driven world. I only hope that my support and exposure to technology will spark an interest for learning in all of my students. In addition to using the 6 tablets for research and creating video reports, I hope to use the tablets for reading and math centers and interventions. This way, all students can access technology at their own level of learning.
