Our middle school in Texas is a school filled with inspiring students who want to make their world a better place! In order to be successful in the 21st century workplace, we offer classes like computer science, engineering, and robotics. In 2018 we began taking teams to robotics competitions. We did well in our first year, but noticed a sizable gap in what programming is available on an iPad or Chromebook versus what is available on a full laptop. Without technology that can run the full software capabilities, our teams will always experience a gap when we go to competition. We need 3 Dell Inspiron laptops to be able to access the full programming available in the Lego Mindstorms software and be capable of programming at our practice table and at competition. My students don't have much access to technology outside of school, and it is so important to give them a chance to learn and be successful in subjects like Computer Science, Engineering, and Robotics.
