Handwriting and letter formation are very important for students’ literacy acquisition, especially English language learners. When students write letters, they learn them more effectively. The materials I chose will allow my students to practice proper pen grasp, letter formation, legibility, and pacing. I plan on using the materials daily, during centers. School days are packed with instructional priorities, and it can be easy to let handwriting fall by the wayside. However, with just a few minutes a day, students’ letter formation skills can improve, leading to positive outcomes for overall literacy development.
