I teach teenagers with special needs. They are classified as learning impaired, speech language impaired and autistic. My students are eager, respectful and enjoy learning. It is a pleasure and privilege to help them and I look forward to working with them each day. I see up to 5 students at a time. Small groups ensure that each student gets maximum attention and that their goals are being targeted in the most efficient and effective way possible. Typical goals are to improve articulation, fluency, reading and comprehension skills. In addition, higher order thinking skills such as inference, cause and effect, problem and solution, predicting and summarizing, and understanding unfamiliar words using context clues are some of the many goals I work on with my students. These skills are necessary for all subject areas as well as out of school experiences so I take my responsibility seriously.
