Our students love the sensory experience and calming effect that painting gives. This project would give our students the chance to explore their creativity and self-expression using different painting techniques. Using the canvas gives student's permanency and value to their artwork that paper does not give. Verbalizing emotions can be difficult and scary for many of our students. Using nonverbal means of communication helps students relax and be more willing to open up. The art then becomes not only a therapeutic tool that can be used in the classroom but an opportunity to improve self-esteem and value outside​ of traditional academics.

About my class
