I am the resource room teacher in a very low income neighborhood. The students I work with all have a diagnosed disability that significantly impacts access to the grade level curriculum. My caseload changes each year but consists of kindergarten through 5th graders who either have a learning disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, other health impairments, or some combination of these. Many of my students have very limited access to books at home. The lack of resources at home in conjunction with the students' disabilities makes reading a huge challenge for my little friends!
