Effective materials for struggling readers have their own textual integrity: realistic characters, readable and convincing text, and a deep sense of the readers' interests and needs. Consistency is important. My overall goal is to hook my students to books by loosening them up. Allowing them to be able to choose books that interest them. Eventually allowing them to indulge more into various types of books until they just can't put them down. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students are showing an interest in independent reading, and this project will only help them become stronger readers.
