Have you seen all of the amazing things we have going on in our third through fifth grade special education, self-contained classroom? We are doing a lot of learning! This year, we are up to 9 students, 3 paraprofessionals, and support many other students throughout the school. We have many different stations going on in the room, and the students are doing their best to staying focued. Our classroom is color coded based on the activities we are doing. Anything that is a whole group activity is in orange area, small group is in blue area, and independent work is in yellow area. The division of the classroom based on color is derived from the strategies of a TEACCH classroom. We do our best to provide students with flexible seating within these structures, but we are in need with some new seating to best meet some of the needs of our most unique learners. The stools will allow students a comfy place to sit in our small group area. The ottomans will be used in our whole group areas. It will allow our ever growing whole group area to remain in our orange area. Students will be able to see over one another and keep their supplies inside the ottoman. It will also give students another option in their seating choice.
