These books will help diversify my classroom library. My hope is that students will read these books and it will facilitate questions and discussions about acceptance of others races and cultures. Many of the books include strong African American leaders and characters that many students might have never heard of. By reading these books and discussing these characters, I hope that African American students will feel heard, supported, and inspired to become a strong leader as well. During this time in our education system, it is more important than ever that educators do their part and begin having those discussions about racial injustice. These books will help and guide those discussions!
