First grade is a critical year for building reading skills to become fluent readers. Every student learns to read and write, maximizing his or her potential and emphasizing comprehension skills. Our classroom is structured, but students are given choices. They are engaged in their learning using various learning tools. When questions arise, students have opportunities to collaborate and brainstorm ideas then explore their ideas using technology, books, paper, manipulatives and other classroom resources. OSMO is a learning tool that uses iPads. With OSMO, students are engaged in their learning. My students will benefit by having access to iPads for OSMO use. OSMO will personalize student learning and offer opportunity for enhancing student learning and engagement.
