Giving students the chance to create their own content inspires and motivates them. I teach 210 7th graders every day. My history classes usually have 36 students in each class, and it can be difficult to motivate and keep the interest of that many students. My students fall within a wide range economically, from the affluent to the homeless. I also have students who read at a college level alongside students who are pre-literate, and an increasing number of English Language Learners. They all deserve a chance to succeed, based on their efforts...and mine.
