My students will use the brightly colored papers to create foldables, as well as vocabulary cards to study. Foldables are a new interactive way of taking notes and allowing the student to be creative and have fun. In order to make a foldable you have a template that you design on the colored paper and print it. Then, the students will cut out information and glue it in the correct places. I also teach them how to highlight information. Sometimes, the students will have to write in or add information and this is where they will use the brightly colored pens and pencils, along with the cool erasers to fix any mistakes. The students can use the sticky notes at home to cover up the information and quiz themselves at home to study for their upcoming graded assignments. The students can also use the paper to cut and have vocabulary cards to match and practice with to review for their upcoming tests and classwork assignments. The students really enjoy drawing a picture to go with the words. It helps them remember the meaning of the word as well. The students love and enjoy to create these notes in my class. Sometimes it is difficult to fund all of the supplies for all of my 70 students. The bright colors of the paper, markers, crayons, and highlighters also catches the attention of some of my students who struggle with ADHD and need assistance and special accommodations. Also having fun and bright colors enhances the learning of the students and really draws them in. Allowing the students some choice in a variety of colors and options (markers, crayons, etc.) helps meet the students' needs and gives them a new way of studying at home and can also help them complete their homework.
