Students in my classes face many challenges. Some of them have health impairments or other learning impairments. Many of them face poverty, and some deal with other difficulties at home. All of them deal every day with high expectations which none of them feel prepared to meet. We are a school in which every student, no matter their emotional or intellectual challenges, is integrated into the general education setting. It is my goal to create not only a safe space for these students, but an understanding of themselves and the world. I want my students to walk out of my classroom each and every day feeling that they have learned something, and been successful. In order to do this, I have created additional classes during which students will receive interventions, individual help with homework and projects, and study and testing skills.
