Eager learners is a term I would use to describe my students. Our school is in a rural area and is a high poverty school where about 75% of the students receive free/reduced lunches. My students are comprised of third, fourth, and fifth graders who are working below grade level. In my classroom I try to make math fun by incorporating hands-on learning and games that all involve math. We have been using dry-erase boards and markers and scratch paper and pencil to compute answers. I would like to increase the use of technology in my classroom and take the motivation of my students to the next level.
