My district is a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. We have many families that are economically disadvantaged but are from hard working blue collar families that truly value the experiences and education that their children receive here. My kids are smart and eager to learn about science and technology. They may not all have access to the latest technologies at home but thrive when they have access to them here at school. They have parents that are equally as excited about our new STEAM program and who watch and listen in wonder as the kids talk about what they learn and can do now. They are kids that through STEAM are realizing that there are skills other that reading and arithmetic that they have to offer and that they can be successful at new things.
