Every student wants to be heard... actually, every student NEEDS to be heard. And communication in a special education preschool program may look different from what you are used to seeing. To see a child try their absolute hardest to communicate with another child and then become frustrated because they have no words is one of the most heartbreaking, everyday scenarios that I see in my classroom. iPads can eliminate some of the frustration that my special education students endure on an everyday basis. I will use the apps on the iPads to help them communicate with others while also using iPads to create a technology advanced preschool program. I want ALL children to learn by engaging in an authentic technology experience, which is why I want to use iPads for my typical and my special education students. I will put iPads in my reading center with QR codes that children can scan to hear a story of their choice being read aloud to them. I will also use the App GooseChase to conduct interactive scavenger hunts that will promote language development and team-building skills. I will use the iPads to connect with peers in different parts of the world to enhance our diversity unit. These are just a few of my plans that I will be using the iPads for to create an engaging, authentic, inclusive classroom experience for all children will all kinds of needs!
