"They Called Us Enemy" will allow students to read, and understand the events surrounding Japanese Internment while also making primary sources available about conditions in the camps. This will let the class explore the material with social, emotional, and civic context of these events while being accessible to readers at different levels. Making this book a part of the 7th, 10th, and 11th grade curriculum will give them insight that was previously not available to them within the confines of a traditional classroom. I have also included copies of Moonshot, which is a collection of First People's folklore, written and illustrated by Indigenous creators. This book will help students understand the rich and complex culture that existed in the Americas prior to colonization and Manifest Destiny.
