A strong classroom library is essential for young readers and writers. New books will be introduced, studied, and offered to all readers. Students are empowered at an early age and are given the choice to choose books that excite them. I'm hoping to build a classroom library with a ratio of 30:1 books for each student. If I'm excited about our new library, then my students will be excited too. We use mentor texts daily that will help us become better writers and we enjoy picture books and we discuss story elements to help strengthen comprehension and critical thinking skills.
