I teach a very culturally diverse group of 4th graders. Our school is located in a suburban area and 83% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. While my students are bright and eager to learn, they feel left behind in today's world where they hear of other students who attend tech enriched schools. I want my students to experience the joy of collaborating and creating with others online.
Having a device in the classroom that would allow my students to create graphs showing the difference in daily temperature between our location and that of our buddy Skype class in another state, or work on a timeline of a scientist's life, or write a math reflection on a blog would make them feel like they were indeed digital natives.
