My boys and girls are fun, competitive, and love to be active. Our students have a lot of needs to nurture as well. Our school is in a low-income area in Illinois where 80% of students are on a free/reduced rate lunch program. The breakdown of our area is: 48% Hispanic, 24% Black, 18% White, and 10% Asian. As our school's Physical Education teacher, I can tell you that my students have kind hearts and genuinely like to help other students. Most of my students have never been a part of an organized team, for example, through a park district. Many of our families simply cannot afford signing their child up for an organized sport. If they can, the child cannot get to a practice because there is no transportation as a lot of our parents work evening hours.
