These materials will provide an exciting experience for my students as we transition back to school. Our theme this year is “illumination”. Working from my favorite quote from Albus Dumbledore, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the lights”. We will be creating Illuminated manuscripts and exploring our favorite quotes, song lyrics, poems and more as we explore font design and light in our artwork. Class sets allow me to rotate materials between classes, which limits shared materials. It will move all of my sanitation to the end of the day which gives me more precious moments to work with my students. Teaching virtual and in-person simultaneously limits the time I can spend navigating materials and clean up. We will make amazing art as we navigate our new normal! It also allows for a wonderful collaboration. My at-home students will be working to design large scale murals with my in-class students. Our separate pieces will come together to form one mural. Distant but together!
