Having a class iPad will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. We will check our classroom library books out digitally. We will be able to interact with the currect Apple TV that is set-up in our classroom, in lieu of only interacting with the teacher computer. There are endless applications that students can use to enhance their learning in centers and small groups. Students can research pictures for projects and we can record our lessons. The iPad will help gather data through formative assessments. Students can on group findings by sharing through the cloud. Pictures can be used to enhance classroom community, and to document work done in class. The teacher can download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow for activities for both the highest performing and most struggling students.
My project will make a difference because, my students are the digital natives, but do not have the access to the tools that they need to be successful in the twenty-first century. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners, and we are only granted a few minutes the week in the computer lab. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more, and allow for my students to interact with technology daily.
