Each year my primary goal as an ELA teacher is to grow my students love of reading. Some students enter the classroom with a love of reading and it's my goal to make sure that they grow that love of books. Some students have yet to fall in love with a book and it becomes my mission to find THE book that will turn them into lifelong readers! Students need to see that books can serve as windows to world as well as mirrors of their own experiences. Having access to Kindles in the classroom will make classroom library checkout more efficient, allow me to spend less per book and students will have access to more copies of each title of the newest most interesting YA titles! Giving students access to e-readers also taps into their love and ease of use with technology. A classroom set of Kindles will also allow my students to participate in literature circles with books that most relate to their lives.
