My students are 5th graders at a K-8 school in a rural area of California. We are a Title I school, with over 80% of our students receiving free or reduced breakfast/lunch. This is similar to my class make-up. My students love math games and learning, but many struggle with prior grade-level concepts. Also, the group varies greatly in ability levels, so differentiation is needed. With over 30 students in class with such a range of abilities, it's important to have materials on-hand that will tap into where the students are at in any given moment. I'm hoping this project will help to meet students at their levels and continue to encourage and develop their love of math.
