"In our classroom: We do thank you, we do I'm sorry, we do praise, we do laughter, we do mistakes, we do peace, we do hard work, we do friendship, WE ARE A FAMILY!" We are a low-income, public school in a rural community. Many students have a less than desirable home environment and yet still come to my classroom with positivity because they know they will be respected. My students are hard-workers, eager-learners, and highly motivated individuals. This 1st grade class has goals that are above and beyond any expectations. As a teacher, my philosophy has always centered around creative thinking/learning. My students are actively engaged in all lessons so that their minds can open up and reach their full potential. I feel that 1st grade is the most crucial year of a student's educational career. They learn to appreciate school, adults, and rules.
