This year I plan to implement math center time into my daily math instruction. These centers will provide an opportunity for students to practice and apply the strategies that have been taught within the classroom. The activities in the centers will provide much-needed review, practice, and enrichment for all students. The math manipulatives that I have requested will give me the tools that I need to differentiate during my daily math center time. I am requesting basic hands-on items (ex. dominoes and fraction tiles) that will be used to supplement my instruction of the 4th grade CCSS expectations. My math center time will have 4 different stations which the students will rotate through. The 4 stations will be 1) teacher directed, 2) independent seat work, 3) small group activity, and 4) technology. By providing fresh, new materials for my math centers, I am hoping to "grow" mathematicians that are ready to persevere in facing the challenges of real world math.
