I am a dual language English teacher who works with 40 bilingual kindergarten students. They rotate between two teachers. 50% of their day is taught in English, while the other 50% of their day is with their Spanish teacher. My students love and enjoy read alouds, singing and reading stories by looking at the pictures. There is a great need to expand my students' vocabulary and comprehension skills. That is why pictures and engaging activities, involving total physical involvement, is a huge part of my instructional day. My campus is a Title I campus with an 85% Hispanic enrollment. The school is nestled in the middle of a lower- middle income neighborhood. Many of my students walk to school and live in apartments that are located around the perimeter of the neighborhood. The school's culture is a nurturing and warm environment. Parents are passionate about volunteering because they want their children to be successful in achieving their goals.
