My students come from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. They are energetic and motivated to do well. For many, they will be the first generation to attend college. I take this as a source of motivation. I constantly talk about the need for higher education. I get them thinking for all of them it is possible to get that college degree. I have a multitude of learning styles in including both academically talented students and those with special education needs. Literature bring them together. The school is in a growing community but with economic times we are in need of resources to support the newly adopted National Common Core Curriculum. "œI alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." -Mother Teresa These words I feel describe that spirit of my room and school community.
