The materials and supplies I am requesting will help me provide a more well-rounded learning experience for my students. Helping my students gain functional skills such as reading recipes and cooking will help them to be more independent as adults and hopefully live a more satisfying life because of it! Part of learning the functional skill of cooking is understanding what the cooking materials are. Next year, my students and I will be focusing on learning how to read and identify the different tools and ingredients used to cook some of our favorite meals using hands on learning. Students will be split into groups so that one group will start working on learning the names of tools (teaspoon, tablespoon, cup etc.) and the other will begin putting those skills to use.
