The items I am asking for will help my students access reading and writing tools that they need. I am a resource teacher and the students I work with have suffered trauma and/or have disabilities. My room is a place that is safe, where kiddos come to seek peace and redirection. Wobble seats, bean bags and other flexible seating helps them to refocus and concentrate. Having access to books that are interesting to them will increase their buy in to reading and writing. By being more flexible with my classroom set up it helps promote student learning and breaks emotional walls, while also giving them an outlet. Having books, comics and stories available that are relevant to my students allows them to connect to the stories. In turn this helps keep them engaged.
