The earbuds are necessary because a computer generated man talks to the students and if all 33 students are working on the math program at once, they will be easily distracted and not able to focus on the task at hand. The earbuds will be used in a daily basis to help students who are learning English as a second language. Math becomes more difficult in the latter years in school. Most mathematical concepts become abstract and students who are learning English as a second language struggle with the daily everyday language. So listening skills and visual skills are very important to all students, especially students learning English as a Second Language.
