Creating a "media product" like a literary journal is proven to successfully engage students in high order learning as defined by Bloom's Taxonomy. My students come from low income families and likely have not been exposed to the arts. This is an opportunity for me to help my students participate in and foster a culture of art. A majority of my students are also from diverse backgrounds with a heritage from outside the United States, and it would benefit them to be able to explore that identity through literary and visual art. If we can create a campus wide submission based literary journal, it will benefit our students across multiple subjects and will help students learn other forms of expression.
