The games I am requesting will be used each day during in-class recess time. Game playing has a great number of positive benefits for students. In addition to being attention-grabbing and actively engaging, playing games also build a variety of skills. Students use critical thinking, apply strategies, develop teamwork and creativity skills all while learning good sportsmanship. The specific games I’ve chosen, such as Blokus, Jenga, and Boggle, have been requested by current students and others I’ve identified as important to our classroom work. They will be used for years to come during recess time as well as exemplars for a project 4th-grade students complete in the classroom where they create their own games.
