In order to make the state testing season a little bit more bearable, the third-grade teachers have decided to transform our classrooms into different worlds. Before testing, the students will travel from classroom to classroom and work their way through three levels of questions, each increasingly harder in difficulty. This will last for two days. The first day is all about reading and writing. The second day is all about math. Each classroom will review three state standards that will be on the state test. The rooms will be transformed into Super Mario, Candyland, the Olympics, a Construction Zone, and Outer Space. The items chosen for this project will help to complete these room transformations. For example, in our Olympic room, we need the stadium seating backdrop to give the illusion that the students are in an Olympic stadium. For the outer space room, we need the star backdrop so the students are transported into the universe. The fake mustaches will be used in the Super Mario room in a way that the students actually become the character and can channel his perseverance and conquer the test prep challenges. All of the items will help the students take their minds off the pressure that comes along with testing and help them have some fun while reviewing the necessary the standards to have success on the state test.
