I have a class of 25 students in my Fifth grade class, and they are a wonderful bunch of students. They are some of the funniest kids I have ever met, but they are also very hardworking. Our school is in a large city and we have over 17 languages spoken at our school, so there is a large ENL population. In my class alone I have 16 ENL students who speak 5 different native languages. The school is also located in a low income area, so I want to make sure books are readily available for my students. My fifth grade classroom is very unique in the way that I have readers ranging from a 1st grade to an 8th grade reading levels. As a first year teacher, I am trying to provide a variety of texts to my students to meet their needs, so they can grow to be the readers I know they can be.
