My students have told me the stories of their reading lives, and they fall into two categories: never read, and used to read. The first group has always hated reading, and they do it only for school. The other group used to read, but now that they have smart phones and jobs, reading has fallen by the wayside. My goal is to get both categories of kids to fall in love with reading, for the first or second time. Reading can change the lives of the students. I want to create the opportunity for them to do so. All the books I am requesting are books that past students have loved. These books transform reluctant readers into addicted readers. So many kids want to read books on sports, but they can't find them at our school library. This is why I need your help getting these great books for my class library. Donating these books to my class library will guarantee that this year's kids, and kids for future years to come, will have a rich variety of interesting, relevant, and exciting books.
