Schools are places where children learn about the world and begin to imagine life beyond their neighborhoods. Unfortunately, my first grade students rarely envision their next meal. Plagued with an unstable home life, malnutrition, sleep deprivation, language barriers, and a lack of exposure to books and rich language, these young learners struggle to advance academically. With your donation, I can give my students the choice of working on a page of problems or solving a problem with colorful and interestingly shaped blocks. Manipulatives intrigue and motivate while helping students learn.
