Students at my school deserve books in which they can see themselves! The current classroom's library feels outdated and doesn't reflect the contemporary diversity of my students. I use student NWEA data and book Lexile levels to allow students to make independent choices for books I know they CAN read. Having an updated library helps ensure students WILL read the books I'm providing. Students need access to books, graphic novels, and other forms of print that are engaging by addressing current issues. Also, creating a system of orgainzation for the new materials will be carried out using the shelving materials requested. By donating, these materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing modern means for independent reading.
