Most of my students have a lot of hidden personalities and talents. However, because of their economic status and home life, many of them do not work to their full potential. Many of them come to school with empty book bags. They hang their heads when they tell me, "My mom is buying my supplies next week." They have the same response each week. It's amazing how something as simple as a new notebook or some colored pencils can put smiles on their faces. Many of the basic supplies that students need are not supplied by the school's low budget. The supplies we get in September are usually depleted within the first two months. It would be nice to have enough materials to last the entire year.
