As a new teacher, my classroom has limited furniture. My classroom would really benefit from a large-kidney shaped table to support my struggling students. After I teach a lesson, my students practice their new skills by working independently. However, some of my students struggle greatly and working independently is very challenging. This table would give my struggling learners the space to get smaller group instruction with less distractions. I currently have a very small table that will seat 2 other students. At times, I have 5 to 7 students that need extra support. If I have a larger group, the students will either crowd around my teacher's desk, we sit on the floor, or students will have to move out of their own seats so we can use their desks to form a group. The new table will allow students to collaborate and explore with one another. The whiteboard surface will encourage students' creativity and motor development. It is the perfect place to practice math facts and multistep word problems. Writing directly onto the surface will keep students engaged and enhance their performance. Several of my students do not get the extra academic support at home. This dry erase table will give my students a comfortable working space that will contribute to their academic success.
