Every day, I get to welcome 30 1st graders into our vibrant learning community. They may be entering the classroom with a multitude of stressors from the outside world, but they know that when they step into Grambling, they are here to do three things: work hard, be nice, listen and think. We giggle and sing. We tackle challenging math problems and explore our thinking every hour, every day. We practice being good people, learning skills like conflict negotiation and loving when everyone gets exactly what they need. Our scholars are resilient. They challenge me every day to be a better person alongside them. We are a low income school on track to be a high performing learning community. Our room is filled with future journalists, physicists, doctors, artists, lawyers, and poets. It's such a joy to see them work hard, be nice, listen and think--no matter what!--every day!
