Cameras are a necessary tool for students taking a Photography class. My district doesn't have the funding for us to have a class set, so students have to share the few cameras that we do have. And we can't require students to have their own camera. Having these materials would make a huge difference in my student's learning since they'll have access to a key tool for Photography, a camera. We use the cameras to learn about composition, the elements of art & principles of design, point of view, technology etc throughout the whole school year in all three periods of my beginning photography.
Having these cameras would truly make a big impact on my students and allow us to do even more photo projects since we wouldn’t have to wait for students to share cameras. And by having new cameras, students can keep up to date with technology. I don't let students use their cell phones to take pictures because I want them to learn how to use the camera settings and upload the photos to the computers where some projects are edited in Photoshop.
