Hands on learning is engaging, meaningful, builds positive relationships, and is fun. It is my goal to present and demonstrate science in such a way that the activities will pique the student's curiosity and interest. I want to engage in a variety of science experiments and hands-on activities. I hope the activities and experiments can help to motivate the students. The lessons will promote science inquiry and get them thinking like scientists. The experiences will promote positive teacher-student relationships and student to student relationships. We will use the magnets and borax when we do our magnetic slime experiment. The students will observe the slime coming to life and eating the magnets! We will use the funny water beads for a sensory activity, the students will enjoy touching them and also making sensory bottles which they can use for a calming strategy in the classroom. We will use the Insta snow to see how polymers absorb water and we will dissect diapers to see the polymers inside and discuss how engineers designed disposable diapers using polymers. I will use the book Naked Eggs and Flying Potatoes: Unforgettable Experiments That Make Science Fun as a valuable resource in my classroom. I work with students that are very impulsive and have difficulty getting along with each other. This multi-sensory approach will enhance their learning. It will create opportunities for team building and working collaboratively. The students will be excited about working and learning together.
