My students need new books to explore in our classroom. I am pushing the students to apply the strategies we are learning to their individual reading at home. We do not have enough books to send home with our students so they are limited on resources. I would like to have enough classroom books to be able to send some home each week with my students. It's important for students to read at school and at home in order to keep their inquisitive minds going. We are striving to move up reading levels and gain better comprehension. These sets of books would really help us broaden our topics we read about and allow students to possibly take some books home to continue their exploring and involve their families in their learning. They will be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in nonfiction texts, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
