These materials will allow for students to take home books of their choice to explore further science topics. The books will be checked out weekly to allow for students to have plenty of time to read, explore, and interact with the books that they take home. Simple science experiments that can be completed with basic household supplies will go home with the books. Student choice in learning about science, paired with engaging colorful books will make these students excited to further their science knowledge and be introduced to another genre of reading. Exposing students to all kinds of reading is a way to help assure that every student learns that they are a reader. If they don't love reading yet, they may not have found their genre. The books about science and in a comic book form also inform them about the basics of a variety of topics.
