Sierra Middle School is located in Las Cruces, NM in southern New Mexico. My students, who are of varied backgrounds, are a part of a Science Magnet program. This program provides students with two class periods of science during the school day, starting in 6th grade. Students study traditional science standards in an engaging, hands-on, experiential environment allowing them to deeply explore integrated science topics. The goal is for students to be able to use technology, project-based learning, service-learning, and field-trip experiences to enhance knowledge acquisition.
